Meet some of our Sixth Formers
Dallam’s Sixth Form is built around one simple idea: when staff know you well, you do well. All of our Sixth Formers we spoke to (pictured below) agree that their “small class sizes mean teachers understand what you’re confident in, what you need help with, and how to get the best out of you. It means that teaching is tailored and the support feels personal, not generic.”
In 2025, we saw strengthened A-Level results. This progress comes from attention to detail, consistent feedback and the positive working relationships formed between students and staff.
Academic support is structured and proactive. Alongside subject-based help, our Steps to Success programme offers personalised intervention and guidance from the wider Sixth Form team. Students always know where they stand and what they need to do next.
We also listen to you as you plan for the future. Our careers programme is shaped by your thinking and feedback, giving you clear guidance on university, apprenticeships and employment. Through organised talks, employer links and tailored advice, you’re supported to find the best next steps.
Pastoral care is a major part of life in the Sixth Form Centre. The team operates an open-door policy, offering space to talk, reflect and solve problems early. Mrs Winters plays a central role in this. Her calm, practical support underpins the idea that positive relationships lead to positive outcomes, academically and personally.
Sixth form is about relationships, too. We plan opportunities for students to build friendships, collaborate and settle into the community. You’ll mix with boarders from international backgrounds, widening your social circles and experiences. Leadership is also encouraged for everyone, not just a selected few, with student leadership roles that build confidence and play to individual strengths.
Here’s what some of our Sixth Form Students had to say:
The quality of lessons is really good and our teachers are brilliant. There’s a lot of outside-the-classroom activities such as sports and quizzes which bring students together too. – Emily Moon
You can form good relationships with both students and teachers here and the environment is supportive and friendly. It’s not at all daunting – Abbie Guy.
If you’re in Year 10 or 11 and thinking about life after GCSEs, come and see what Dallam’s Sixth Form could offer you. Join us at our Open Evening on Thursday 27 November, 5–7 pm, to meet students and staff and explore the Sixth Form Centre.
